How Kids Can Help
The Friends of Orange County Animal Shelter is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Do you want to help but are not old enough to volunteer at the shelter? Here are some things that you can do to help the animals….
- Have your birthday party and instead of your friends bringing gifts for you, they could bring gifts for the animals. See our wish list.
- Bake and sell homemade dog treats. Sell them at church, school, to your neighbors, etc. and donate the proceeds to the Orange County Animal Shelter. DOG TREAT RECIPES
- Ask your parents if your family would like to become a FOSTER family for kittens or puppies.
- Help us get the word out about the Orange County Animal Shelter to encourage more people to adopt from the animal shelter and to spay/neuter their pets! If you see an event we have scheduled, there are many times we can have the help of our younger followers. Please email to see if you are eligible to help.
- Conduct a “wish list” drive to gather items that we need.
- Make and donate Do-It-Yourself cat projects – Fleece blankets are needed for both cats and dogs.
- Recycle: Collect aluminum cans, sell them to the local recycling center or bring them by the Orange County Animal Shelter, we have an Aluminum can recycling shed. Please make sure all cans are clean and in sealed trash bags before leaving in the shed.
If you have any questions, please email us. We strive to answer all emails within 48 hours.
